What Is Skin Rejuvenation (IPL)?
Multiple technologies are used in this results-oriented session designed for facial rejuvenation (also known as a photo facial, and includes intense pulsed light/IPL) with little downtime. We reduce or remove brown spots, sun spots, pigmented lesions, broken capillaries, fine lines, wrinkles and signs of rosacea. By promoting cell growth and enhancing collagen production, our treatment gives clearer, smoother, younger appearing skin while reducing spots and small blood vessels on the face, neck, chest and hands.
Additionally, facial wrinkles can now be treated non-ablatively, contributing to a more youthful appearance. Using relatively low-energy, short-pulse broadband light, imperfections such as erythema of rosacea, superficial telangiectasia, dyschromia, age spots and other discolored signs of photoaging can be gently heated and eliminated, replaced by newer, younger looking skin. because each treatment is gentle with no downtime. In fact, laser skin treatments for wrinkles and other signs of aging can be done during a lunch hour and no one will notice any sign of treatment, just a gradual improvement in the skin’s appearance.
Advantages: Reduce the signs of aging with a quick, 20-minute procedure, “no downtime” procedure makes it perfect for lunch breaks, treatment leads to continued effects over time.
Laser treatments that kills the fungus that lives in and under the nails. The laser light passes through the toenail without causing damage to the nail or the surrounding skin. However, the toenail will not become instantly clear because it takes time to grow out. The procedure targets the pathogens that cause toenail fungus, allowing the new nail to grow in healthy and clear. Unlike some medication-driven treatments for toenail fungus, the laser presents no side effects, and it is a great alternative for many patients who cannot or do not want to take oral medications. It is safe with no pain
With the overwhelming popularity of tattoos over the last ten years, the market for effective removal has exploded. Tattoos are created by injecting colored pigment into small deep holes made in the skin. Regardless of whether a tattoo artist or an untrained individual injects the pigment, the marks or designs are relatively permanent. When people subsequently want their tattoos removed, most physicians today consider laser surgery one of the best methods.
The Q-switched Nd: YAG is the most frequently used laser for tattoo removal. During treatment, pulses of light from the laser are directed onto the tattoo, breaking up the tattoo pigment. Over the next several weeks the body’s macrophages remove the treated pigmented areas. You can now effectively treat dark tattoo inks, specifically black (which accounts for more than half of all tattoos), blue and green. Tattoo ink and natural pigmentation like melanin absorb short pulse duration/high peak energy Q-switched pulses so quickly that they create a photo-acoustic effect within the pigment clusters.
This effect breaks down the ink into much smaller particles that can be more easily removed by the body’s natural filtering system. The laser does NOT remove normal skin pigment. The laser targets the pigment of the tattoo without damaging surrounding skin. Requires initial consultation.
Patients should expect to come back for several treatments to achieve expected results.
Advantages: Minimal risk of side effects, effective treatment for dark tattoo inks (black, blue and green), dramatic results after several treatments.
Acne is a common condition characterized by obstructed sebaceous glands, pimples and sometimes deeper cysts or nodules that occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and upper arms. Acne begins in adolescence and usually affects most teenagers at some time. However, adults too can suffer with acne. When severe, acne can often result in scarring.
Even less severe cases can lead to scarring, if not properly treated. Until recently, patients with persistent, moderate acne have been treated with only topical or sometimes systemic antibiotics. Recent studies have demonstrated, however, that certain discrete spectra can trigger endogenic porphyrins that naturally destroy P. acnes bacteria — and in just a fraction of the time it typically takes for antibiotics to work. Within eight brief acne laser treatments, over just four weeks, Harmony®XL’s AFT can provide significant improvement.
This is three times faster than common antibiotics and topical. Patients should achieve 80% clearance and treatments for acne take only a few minutes. Clear inflammatory acne lesions without drugs or undesirable side effects using the HarmonyXL AFT laser handpiece. Intense blue wavelengths in the range of 420-950 nm target the porphyrins produced as part of the normal metabolism of P. acnes bacteria. The interaction of the intense blue light and the porphyrins creates singlet oxygen that rapidly destroys the bacteria without damaging the surrounding tissue.
